๐Aso-Ebi, Luxury, and Culture: How Nigerian Celebrities Celebrate Traditional Weddings
Destiny Etiko, often called the “Drama Doll” of Nollywood, is known for her bold roles, magnetic presence, and fearless attitude on screen. But in this exclusive sit-down with Celeb Zone NG, the star revealed a more vulnerable side — one the cameras rarely catch.
We met up with Destiny in Enugu, fresh off a movie set and dressed down in casual wear. What followed was a raw, inspiring conversation about burnout, pressure, personal growth, and the journey that made her a Nollywood icon.
Destiny’s confession hit hard.
> “Acting was no longer fun. The pressure was insane, and I was getting hate online for things I didn’t do. I thought, ‘Maybe it’s time to quit.’”
She recalls the 2023 period when she faced intense online trolling — fake rumors, edited videos, and negativity flooded her social media.
> “People think celebrities are made of steel. We’re not. I cried myself to sleep for weeks.”
But what kept her going?
> “My mom. She sat me down and said, ‘Destiny, you didn’t come this far to stop now.’ That was it.”
> “The role of a widow in ‘Tears of Oba’ broke me emotionally,” she shares.
In the film, Destiny played a grieving mother and widow — a role that required deep emotional delivery and physical transformation.
> “I lost weight, cried every day on set, and honestly… it healed something in me. That film changed my life.”
Destiny is also known for her daring fashion and curvy looks — but she says it comes with pressure.
> “People think it’s just vibes and designer bags. It’s not. I work out, eat clean, and take breaks from social media just to stay sane.”
Her secret to balancing work and mental health?
> “Boundaries. I don’t let everything into my space. Not everyone with a camera is your friend.”
We had to ask about the question on every fan’s mind — is Destiny Etiko seeing anyone?
> “Let’s just say I’m happy,” she laughs, dodging the full question.
“My heart is calm. I’m focused on building, not breaking.”
She did reveal that she plans to start her own production company before the end of 2025.
> “I want to create roles for women that go beyond crying and being cheated on. We are more than that.”
Launching her film production studio
Writing a book on her journey
Possibly working with Netflix or Amazon Prime Video
> “My dream is to direct a film by 2026. Mark my words — it will happen.”
Behind the glam and gossip, Destiny Etiko is a woman of strength, vulnerability, and vision. She’s walked through fire, stood tall, and is carving out a legacy far beyond acting.
In her words:
> “You don’t have to be perfect to shine. You just have to keep going.”
